Where it All Began
Starting NJoy Designs wasn’t something I decided overnight. It began with a love for creativity and a desire to craft something beautiful with my hands. Before finding jewellery, I had gone through phases of making pot-holders (I had a little business selling them with my mom’s help when I was 7), creating purses, wallets, and other random items out of Duct-tape (including a Duct-tape PILLOW, how uncomfortable - thankfully I had the sense to never try to sell anything), making and selling Rainbow Loom bracelets, taking sewing lessons and designing my own clothes, and learning how to make mosaics, among just about every other creative outlet I could get my hands on growing up.
I landed on jewellery (not including Rainbow Loom rubber band bracelets) when I was twelve and my aunt taught me how to make wire-wrap bangles. To this day, the technique of wire wrapping remains my favourite, and it’s also the backbone of many NJoy Designs pieces. What started as a hobby, making pieces for friends and family, quickly grew into a passion that led to the creation of my own handmade jewellery business.
As the sole owner and creator, I design, craft, and finish each piece myself. I am the designer, maker, photographer, editor, advertiser, social media manager, and now blogger! Every design reflects the love and care I put into my work, and I truly enjoy getting to make such special pieces every day.
Of course, challenges have come along the way, such as two major international moves (technically, I began my business in Brunei at school, stopped when I moved to the U.S., restarted, and then moved to Australia in 2023). But getting to see and interact with customers at my local markets keeps me going. Each piece I create is more than just jewellery; it’s a representation of my passion and dedication.
