Behind the Scenes: A Sneak Peak into the Creation of NJoy Designs Jewellery

At NJoy Designs, every piece of jewellery tells a story—one crafted with passion, precision, and a personal touch. As the sole creator of my handmade jewelry, I thought it would be fun to take you behind the scenes and show you the process that goes into bringing my designs to life. Whether you’re curious about how a necklace goes from idea to finished product or just love the art of jewelry making, this post will give you an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes.

Step 1: The Inspiration + Sourcing and Preparing Materials

Every piece of jewellery starts with an idea. Inspiration comes from many places—nature, art, personal experiences, or even just the feeling that I want to make something new. I lay out the materials that I want to use in my design to capture the colours, style, and flow of each piece, sometimes not using all of the elements I have selected - and sometimes adding more.

Step 2: The Inspiration and Design

Once I have a general idea of what I want to create, I get to the design. This is probably sounding a little bit backwards from how most people would go about this, but for whatever reason, this works for me! Plus sometimes the shapes/sizes of the materials (ex., stones or pearls) might sway the way I want to use them, so having a general idea first allows me to play around before locking down a design.

I spend time preparing and sorting my materials, ensuring I have everything I need to begin the crafting process.

Step 3: The Crafting Process

Now comes the fun part—bringing the design to life. Whether I’m wire wrapping, cutting chains, or adding intricate details, this is where the real magic happens. I work meticulously by hand, using a variety of tools to carefully craft each element of the piece. Each step is completed with precision and attention to detail. It’s a bit of a balance of skill, patience, and creativity.

Step 4: Finishing Touches and Quality Control

Once the piece is crafted, I usually give it a final polish and check it for any imperfections. The finishing touches can make all the difference, so I ensure each piece is as flawless as possible before it’s ready for sale.

I also make sure each piece is comfortable to wear and durable, as I want my customers to enjoy their jewelry for years to come. This will usually mean sanding down any edges and ensuring earring posts aren’t poke-y.

Step 5: Packaging and Shipping

Finally, the jewelry is carefully packaged and ready to make its way to its new owner. I take extra care in packaging each piece securely, ensuring that it arrives in perfect condition. The last step is personalizing the experience, usually adding a handwritten thank-you note for my amazing customers.
